Amsterdam - the expectations of tourists will come true!

Amsterdam is the legendary city of freedom, famous for its museums, canals, coffee shops and entertainment. The city has 160 canals connecting the 90 islands where Amsterdam is located.

The Dutch capital is often called the "Venice of the North",
although we warn you right away that you will not see gandoliers here. But the role of the Basilica of St. Mark is played by the no less ancient temple of St. Nicholas, who is considered the patron saint of sailors and has been protecting the city for more than one century, located mostly on the water, and not on land.

Car rental in advance is also profitable in Netherlands. You can compare rates online and receive up to 70% discount for rental. For example, rental in Amsterdam compact class car costs nearly 15 euros per day, in Eindhoven  nearly 13 euros per day.

A lot has already been said about the famous coffee shops offering a choice of ten varieties of selected marijuana. By the way, locals do not visit these establishments very often, which are located in the city center and attract tourists from all over the world. Moreover, in recent years the number of coffee shops has decreased from 1700 to about 200-300 establishments. It is not difficult to find a coffee shop - in its name one letter will be painted green, and in the windows you will see a garland of green bulbs.

Visiting coffee shops does not involve any risk.
These are not scary drug addicts at all, but neat, tidy establishments with peaceful, smiling visitors. In general, the original Dutch policy is bearing fruit: much less serious crimes are committed in the country than in neighboring countries. However, do not forget that according to statistics the main crime of drug addiction in Holland is theft of bicycles! Be careful: the scurrying bike thieves are dreaming of pulling your two-wheeled vehicle!

Well, yes, you probably know yourself that the Red Light District has existed in Amsterdam since the 15th century, and prostitution is legalized and is considered a respected profession. It only remains to clarify that this terrible place is one of the safest areas in an already not overly intimidating city.

It is believed that a quarter of tourists go to Holland to legally smoke weed.
But now we are interested in those three-quarters who are not led by cheap entertainment and, as a last resort, get drunk peacefully in a local bar, tasting "Heineken", which is produced in Amsterdam.

But first, do not forget to visit the museum of the great Van Gogh,
opened in 1973 and containing the largest collection of works by the unsurpassed painter. The old building of the 17th century houses the museum of the famous Dutch master - Rembrandt. The artist lived in this house, which has now been turned into a wonderful museum containing a large number of paintings and almost all of the etchings of the great artist and engraver.

Also, do not forget that the city is home to the Historical Museum of Amsterdam,
the famous Riksmuseum with works by Jan Vermeer and the best Flemish masters, the Madame Tussauds wax museum and the erotic museum that occupies five floors.

During the day, in Amsterdam,
they walk along the canals and visit the museums of great painters, at night they saul at discos in Melkweg, Escape and other famous clubs. Do not forget to dodge cyclists and do not get carried away with soft drugs (and even hard drugs, which, however, you can hardly get here), and then Amsterdam will become for you a beautiful, open and welcoming city in which everything is fine (well, if you do not count treacherous bike thieves).
