Cathedral in Salzburg

Salzburg Cathedral is called one of the most imposing and impressive buildings in the city. The building that has survived to this day was built at the beginning of the 17th century in the Baroque style. It is believed that the first cathedral appeared here in the 8th century. The last reconstruction was carried out after the Second World War, during which an aerial bomb hit the cathedral.

Long before the trip, many tourists book a car in Austria online to get a favorable rental rate and see more attractions. In Salzburg Airport, the cost of a compact class car starts from 15 euros per day, in Vienna Airport the cost is about the same - from 14 euros per day.

The height of the towers of the cathedral is 81 meters, the dome rises to 79 meters, it simultaneously accommodates up to 10 thousand parishioners. The cathedral is famous for its luxurious altars with marble columns and numerous sculptures, carved balconies and an elegantly painted dome. Here you can also see an old font from 1321 (it is believed that Mozart was baptized in it) and ancient wooden benches with carvings. The cathedral is active, services are constantly held here.

Entrance to the cathedral is free, it is open daily. Visiting tourists during the sermons is not welcome. The cathedral also often hosts amazing organ music concerts (free of charge). The temple has a museum with a collection of church antiquities.

The cathedral is located in the historical center,
at the place where the Residenzplatz passes into the Domplatz, at Domplatz, 1a.
