Bergen, Norway, is rich in interesting sights. For example, when you arrive in Bergen, first of all you need to go to the Hanseatic Bryggen embankment. It was here that the first buildings of the city appeared. There are ancient port facilities here, and the waterfront area itself is considered the most famous settlement of the Middle Ages in Norway. The Bryggen quarter belonged to Hanseatic merchants for four centuries and was often damaged by fires. Narrow streets and darkish galleries seem to take you back to the distant past. The Museum of the Hanseatic League is also located here, where you can learn about the life of the Hanseatic merchants and visit the preserved halls where the Hanseatic meetings took place.

The Bryggen Museum is also of interest, where you can get a complete picture of the crafts, trade and everyday life of the Middle Ages. St. Mary's Church, located right behind the museum, is considered the oldest in Bergen. It was built in the twelfth century.

In Bergen, be sure to see the Royal Residence and Haakonshallen, the reception hall. They were built in 1247 and 1261 respectively. Nearby is the famous Rosencrantz Tower, built in 1270, which was rebuilt several times, improved and expanded for defensive purposes. This Tower was a symbol of opposition and power among the Hanseatic merchants.

Fleibanen funicular

A museum is now open in the composer's house.
