12 things to do in Pittsburgh at night

Try a beer in a church

Church Brew Works
was opened in 1996 in Lawrenceville Historic District. This is the first and only pub in the US that is located right in the historic church. St. John the Baptist Church was built in 1902 but was damaged by fire in 1915. The church building has been converted into a microbrewery and restaurant with great attention to detail. The original benches were cut and hand-finished to accommodate the dining tables, while the oak from the benches was used to build the bar. There are original fir floors, original lanterns and bricks that survived the demolition of the confessional. Steel and copper tanks gleam at the altar.
