Tips
The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (A90) passes close to the airport, letting you bypass the city towards Stonehaven in the south or Ellon in the north.
Aberdeen city centre has a Low Emission Zone. Modern hire cars generally meet the standard, so a standard rental is unlikely to be affected.
The A93 follows the Dee west through Banchory and Ballater towards Braemar and the Cairngorms.
Snow can close high routes such as the A93 over Glenshee and the A939 Lecht road. Check conditions before heading into the hills in winter.
